The Perfect Shot - filming with drones and other equipment
Filmmaker Alessandro Beltrame has produced some stunning visuals with his production: Liguria, the perfect shot. Equipment used includes: cranes, Steadicam, sliders, helmet cameras and drones.

A co-marketing project with the official tourism board of Liguria Regione.
The project is called “Liguria, the perfect shot”, in other words it’s a way to describe an area through video and photo productions for the purposes of tourist development. This allows us to have different budgets.

The subjects are outdoor activities. To do this we would use the latest modern techniques of handling the video shooting. The project involved: cranes, Steadicam, sliders, helmet cameras and drones.

Watch the making of, above.
2 separate projects were produced:

“Liguria, the perfect shot, to show an area through video and photo productions for the purposes of tourist development.

Behind the camera, to show the production of what went into making this project. 2 or more cameras for this purpose.

Director and the coordinator of the project is Alessandro Beltrame.
We started with mountain bike and rock climbing, a great was to test the capabilities of the drone.
The drone is a flying machine that has 8 blades, a carbon fiber structure, and a remote head for the video camera movements. For a performance shooting 2 operators are needed for flying: the pilot and the camera operator. The pilot, Sebastiano, is one of the best in Europe(and the world) for flying model helicopters. With him we can push it to the limit looking for the perfect shot.
The drone is a “work in progress”. Rodolfo has one of the most important shops in Italy for model airplanes, so he knows all the latest accessories on the market. The goal is to obtain a super stabilized movement. The drone uses GPS and altimeter for planing the routes in advance, and to help when the drone is out of sight or less visible to those flying it.

Fabio is the camera operator, he is a cameraman and he knows what it’s necessary to shoot professional footage.

It’s easy to send a camera in flight, but it’s different to generate professional images. The aim is for stabilized, smooth movement, with many different points of view. This is the Cinefly Team.

We have used for filming a Panasonic GH3 which enabled us to shoot both stills and videos.

In some fastest movements we used the Sony Prosumer HDR CX 730 E, a camera with very performance stabilized optic.
Drone characteristics
  • 8 rotors
  • payload 3,5 kg
  • energy autonomy 13 minutes
  • stabilization DJI Wookong M GPS

  • cameras used for filming: Lumix Gh3, EOS 5D MIII, Sony CX 730E
  • Much of the making of was shot with the Sony NEX 7 and Panasonic HPX 250. Post production was with FCPX (and a lot of plugins.)

Others equipment which was used: motorized sliders, ABC mini jib, ABC cranes, ABC dynamic, Steadicam, GoPro 3 Black Editions, Easydive Scuba Housings for underwater shots.

The production by AGB Studio Video, agbvideo.com.

Further episodes will be about hiking, trekking, swimming, biking, canyoning, speleology, paragliding and free ride skiing.
Everything filmed on location in Liguria, Italy, from high mountains to the sea in half of an hour. The best location for the perfect shot!!
