Zeiss is known in the world of photography and cinematography for producing absolutely first-class lenses.
In this interview with Paul Longley, National Sales Manager, UK, for Carl Zeiss Ltd, we specifically focus on what it is which separates the photographic lens from the cinema lens.
Zeiss have been particularly innovative by providing interchangeable mounts for their CP2 lenses, enabling the lens to be fitted to Canon EF, Nikon, or PL. Furthermore, the manual Zeiss Loxia (designed for the Sony full-frame A7 series) photographic lenses, allow for smooth iris control, as found on cinema lenses, or hard stops as found on a photographic lens.
This ability to share photographic lenses in a cinematography environment, and to simply change lens mount options on the cinema lenses, make the Zeiss lenses remarkably flexible in the demanding worlds of photography and cinematography.
