The Blackmagic Production Camera represents an affordable way into the world of 4K. The camera records Ultra HD images at the frame size of 3840 × 2160, using Apple’s ProRes (HQ). RAW recording will soon be enabled on this camera.

The benefit of recording the higher resolution of 4K are very quickly apparent for those currently producing HD – when working with the 4K footage within an HD Timeline one can pan and scan across the Ultra HD image, and zoom within the frame.
