Best of Movie Machine 2016 (Part 2)
A look back at the best video reports from Movie Machine in 2016, featuring: CAME-Single gimbal in action, Veydra Mini Primes, the influence of sensor size on depth of field, understanding Canon C-Log, Cine Reflect Lighting System, and an in-depth look at reflections in the eyes.
CAME-SINGLE GIMBAL IN ACTION

On test, the CAME-SINGLE Gimbal, and how this performs on location. See the results, filmed with the Panasonic GX8, with 2 Micro Four Thirds lenses: Panasonic 7-14mm F4 and Panasonic 12-35mm F2.8.
VEYDRA CINEMA LENSES: FOR MFT, E-MOUNT, FZ MOUNT, C MOUNT

This video piece shows the results of filming with the Veydra lenses on location in the far North of Scotland using 3 separate cameras. The high quality images clearly show what is possible to achieve with the Veydra lenses. These represent value compared to more expensive cinema lenses. Some say the Veydras stand up to lenses which 3 -5 time more expensive.
THE LIGHT IN YOUR EYE

As cinematographers, we can achieve beautiful results and greatly enhance the image by working with the reflections in the eye. This is a deep subject, which The Light in your Eye only touches on. The purpose of this film is to inspire those who shoot and light, to spend a little time to look at the reflections in the eye, and how this can be used to effect and also to provide some insight into how these reflections can be created, controlled and shaped.
INFLUENCE OF SENSOR SIZE ON DEPTH-OF-FIELD

Sensors come in many different sizes and the size of the sensor has a direct relationship to light sensitivity. Large sensors perform better in low light, and a large sensor creates a more shallow depth of field to the image. The critical factors affecting depth of field is the aperture setting on the lens, the sensor size, and the chosen focal length.
REFLECTED LIGHT SYSTEM

The CRLS system provides a different way of lighting. Using reflected light, the parallel beam can be precisely directed with a set of 4 different reflectors. This creates a working environment which is free of cables, heat, and it is quick to make changes to the lighting.
MATT DAVIS: UNDERSTANDING CANON C-LOG

This presentation by Matt Davis shows the extent of Matts understanding of all things technical, with wonderful insight into his humour and communication skills. Thanks to Matt for such a brilliant presentation!
