Brother, Brother & Son (BB&S) has released its Area 48 remote phosphor LED softlight in the UK, exclusively distributed through Prokit.
The Area 48 compact soft source is strong but low weight, and measures only 365mm x 275mm overall. It delivers a high light output comparable to a 1K traditional tungsten soft light. Importantly the remote phosphor technology employed sets it apart from most other designs, enabling a CRI reading of up to 97.
Area 48 is manufactured by Brother, Brother & Sons (BB&S) in Copenhagen. They have moved the phosphor away from the LED itself which greatly improves colour rendering, consistency, and light output. The systems colour rendering accuracy is up to 97 CRI.
Remote phosphor panels are slid into place in front of the LED scintillator base technology. Choose a 5600K or 3200K panel to suit. Other colour temperatures are available including: 2700K, 4300K, and 6500K, or a chromakey green panel.
